History
In 1954 Irving Mondore started CNYAA. Irving was both a dairy farmer and used car salesman.
Originally named Syracuse Auto Auction, Irving built his business into one of the nation’s most successful wholesale auto auctions.
Similar to other auctions, Syracuse Auto Auction went through a growth spurt and outgrew its original facility.
In 1962, Irving changed the auction to an evening sale. Met with immediate success, the auction consignment and attendance doubled in size! Irving again met this challenge and built a new multi-lane facility with a cafeteria, lounge, lobby and administrative offices. This was considered to be innovative for the time period!
History
In 1997, Jim Damiano, the current owner, purchased Syracuse Auto Auction from the Mondore Family with his partner, Robert Ryan.
They changed the name to CNY Auto Auction (Central New York Auto Auction), to best identify it with its geographical location. Eventually, Jim took over as the sole owner in 2001.
With his philosophy of “realizing your growth”, Jim transformed the auction with the largest renovation in its fifty-year history by adding an 8,000 square foot facility that houses four auction lanes.
His emphasis on personal customer service has brought back the prominence from its original roots as Syracuse Auto Auction.
CNY Auto Auction continues to excel and prove that it is a great marketplace for both wholesale buyers and sellers!
